How do you avoid late payments?

TL;DR

On Influentials, you receive your payout 10 days after the campaign's end date, provided you delivered your content on time and the brand has approved it. Most delays are caused by late delivery, incomplete payout details or content that isn't approved in time. Complete your payout details as soon as you sign up, deliver your content on time and according to the brief, and handle feedback quickly. That way your payment arrives without any issues.

Nobody likes waiting for their money. The good news is that on Influentials you don't have to chase brands yourself: the budget is reserved on the platform in advance. But there are a few things you can do yourself to make sure your payout isn't delayed.

When do you get paid?

You receive your payout through the platform 10 days after the campaign's end date. The condition is that you've delivered your content on time and the brand has approved it. If you deliver after the deadline, your payout may come later. Keep an eye on the end date of each campaign you take part in, so you know when to expect your payment.

What causes delays?

  • Late delivery. If you deliver your content after the deadline, your payout may be made later than 10 days after the campaign's end date.
  • Incomplete or incorrect payout details. Without correct details, we can't pay you.
  • Content that hasn't been approved. Your payout is only made once the brand has approved your content.
  • Many revisions. If your content needs to be adjusted several times, approval takes longer.

How to avoid late payments

  1. Complete your payout details right away. Do this as soon as you create your account, not only when you're expecting a payment.
  2. Check your details carefully. Make sure your bank details and name are correct. One wrong digit can cause a delay.
  3. Keep your details up to date. Have you changed banks or moved? Update your profile straight away.
  4. Deliver on time. Deliver your content before the deadline, preferably a little earlier. Late delivery can delay your payout, and delivering early leaves room for any feedback.
  5. Follow the brief. The better your content matches the brief, the fewer revisions are needed and the faster it's approved. Read How to read a brand brief properly for tips.
  6. Respond to feedback quickly. If the brand asks for adjustments, make them promptly so your content is approved before the campaign ends.
  7. Keep an eye on your messages. Check your notifications and email regularly during a campaign, so you don't miss questions or feedback from the brand.

Is your payment late anyway?

First check whether 10 days have passed since the campaign's end date, and whether you delivered your content on time. If you delivered late, your payout may come a little later. Then check that your payout details are complete and correct, and that the brand has approved your content. Is everything in order and you still haven't received anything? Collaborations outside Influentials

If you also work with brands directly, agree on payment terms in writing in advance, such as the amount, the payment term and when you'll send your invoice. Send your invoice promptly, with a clear due date. That way you avoid misunderstandings and know where you stand.

Do you need to charge VAT as a creator?

Often, yes. In the Netherlands, anyone who regularly and independently provides services in exchange for payment is usually an entrepreneur for VAT purposes, and that includes creators. Payment in the form of products counts too. If your annual turnover stays below the limit of the small business scheme (KOR), you can register to be exempt from charging VAT. Every situation is different, so check with the Dutch Tax Administration or an accountant.

How do payouts work through a platform?

On Influentials, you don't have to chase brands for payment. The brand reserves the campaign budget on the platform in advance. You complete your payout details and deliver your content on time. Once the brand has approved it, you receive your payout through the platform 10 days after the campaign's end date. If you deliver late, your payout may come later. For product-only campaigns, there's no money payout: the product is your compensation.

How do you set your rate as a creator?

Your rate depends on more than just the video itself. It's determined by the time you spend, the number and type of deliverables, how and for how long the brand may use your content, any exclusivity, and your experience. Start from your desired hourly rate, estimate how many hours a campaign takes, and add extra for usage rights and exclusivity. On Influentials, the brand states the compensation in the brief, so you can decide for yourself whether a campaign is worth it for you.

How much do you earn with influencer posts?

There's no fixed amount. What you earn per post depends on your reach, how engaged your followers are, how well your audience matches the brand, the type of content, the platform, usage rights and exclusivity. Brands pay with a fee, a product, a commission, or a combination of these. On Influentials, you can see the compensation in the brief before you apply.
